Riverhead Man Admits Guilt in Lowe’s Store Burglary

SUFFOLK COUNTY, N.Y. – Terry Smith, a 60-year-old resident of Riverhead, recently pleaded guilty to a series of burglaries at a Lowe’s Home Improvement Store in 2021, as announced by Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney.

From November 10 to November 25, 2021, Smith was accused of burglarizing the Lowe’s Home Improvement Store on Old Country Road in Riverhead three times. During this time, Smith stole various home improvement items, including hedge trimmers, spray gun kits, and a chainsaw, with a total value exceeding $3,000. Smith’s thefts were captured on surveillance video, aiding in his identification and subsequent arrest.

On Tuesday, before Acting Supreme Court Justice Richard I. Horowitz, Smith pleaded guilty to Grand Larceny in the Third Degree and Burglary in the Third Degree, both Class D felonies. Smith is due to return to court on June 14, 2023.
