BUFFALO, NY – The Erie County District Attorney, John J. Flynn, announced on Wednesday that 24-year-old Dequan Richardson of Cheektowaga was sentenced by Erie County Court Judge Susan Eagan to life in prison, with the possibility of parole after 25 years.

The sentence follows Richardson’s guilty plea to charges including second-degree murder, first and second-degree assault, and criminal possession of a weapon. The charges stem from an incident on July 5, 2021, when Richardson fired multiple shots into a crowd at the Ferry Grider Homes housing complex, Buffalo. Four people were injured, and a 3-year-old boy, Shaquelle Walker, Jr., tragically lost his life.
