73-year-old man almost threw away $100k winning lottery ticket

A man from Baltimore County narrowly avoided discarding a Bingo X10 6th edition scratch-off ticket, only to discover it was a $100,000 top-prize winner. After purchasing multiple instant tickets, he initially assumed the remaining ones were non-winning and contemplated throwing them away. However, he always verifies his tickets by scanning them at a Lottery retailer before discarding them.

Upon scanning, he realized he had won $10 on one ticket. Curiously, when he scanned the Bingo X10 game, a message prompted him to “Go to Lottery.” Perplexed by the message, he sought assistance from the store clerk, who enlightened him about its significance. Much to his delight, the clerk confirmed that he had indeed won $100,000.

Surprisingly, the fortunate player had missed the fact that he had won while initially scratching off the ticket. Overwhelmed with joy, the clerk advised him to remain calm. He mentioned that he plays scratch-offs once a month and particularly enjoys extended-play games like bingo and crosswords for their entertainment value.

As a retired truck driver, he intends to utilize the $100,000 prize to settle outstanding bills and plans to continue participating in scratch-off games in the future.
