Atlantic City Police Catch Thieves on Surveillance Cameras

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ- In a swift operation aided by the city’s surveillance cameras, the Atlantic City Police Department apprehended a man who was caught stealing items. The incident occurred on June 8, 2023, at approximately 2:15 AM, when personnel in the department’s Surveillance Center observed individual pilfering belonging from a vehicle in the beach block of Belmont Avenue, then proceeding towards the Boardwalk.

Officers Michael Kragh and William Luengas-Gonzalez promptly responded to the area and located the suspect, identified as Michael Foster. As the officers attempted to engage Foster in conversation, he made a hasty decision to flee, initiating a foot pursuit. In an attempt to alter his appearance while on the run, Foster discarded articles of clothing. Officer Atiqul Islam joined the pursuit and together, the officers successfully apprehended Foster in the rear of a residence in the beach block of Texas Avenue.

During the arrest, Foster displayed signs of physical distress, breathing heavily and failing to respond to the officers’ inquiries. As a precautionary measure, he was transported to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, City Division. Foster was subsequently released after a short period of observation. It was later discovered that Foster had an active warrant for his arrest under an alias.

The stolen items were recovered and promptly returned to their rightful owner, ensuring their swift restitution.

Michael Foster, also known as Tyrone Foster, a 30-year-old resident of Galloway, now faces charges of theft, obstruction of justice, and hindering apprehension. He has been remanded to the Atlantic County Justice Facility pending further legal proceedings. It is important to note that these charges are allegations, and Foster is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
