BROOKLYN, NY – Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez announced on Thursday that Jerry Maisonett, 35, has been sentenced to 22 years to life in prison. Maisonett was found guilty of the brutal murders of his former girlfriend’s mother and her stepfather.
The crime occurred on Monday, December 28, 2015, at approximately 3:30 p.m. at the victims’ apartment at 2364 Batchelder Street, in Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn. Rosie Sanchez, 38, and Anderson Nunez, 40, each were shot and stabbed, with Sanchez receiving a gunshot wound to the head and a stab wound to the heart, and Nunez shot twice and stabbed more than 30 times.
The former girlfriend, Destiny Garcia, was arrested on January 4, 2016, after revealing information about the killings to a cousin. She was later convicted of two counts of first-degree manslaughter and one count of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon and is due to be sentenced on August 3.
