QUEENS, NY – District Attorney Melinda Katz announced on Thursday that Suzette Olin, 68, has been sentenced to 23 years in prison followed by 5 years post-release supervision.

Olin was found guilty of the shooting death of Shaka Ifil, her daughter’s boyfriend and father of her grandchild, at his Woodhaven home in July 2020.

The incident occurred on Sunday, July 26, 2020, when a neighbor found Ifil, 40, lying on his apartment floor with a gunshot wound to his back.

Ifil was able to identify Olin as the shooter before succumbing to his injuries later that day. Security camera footage and DNA evidence from a cigarette butt found in the apartment linked Olin to the crime.
