QUEENS, NY – Raymond Jackson, 25, and his mother, Avita Campbell, 40, residents of Hook Creek Boulevard in Valley Stream, were recently sentenced on charges of manslaughter and gun possession in connection with a 2020 shooting that resulted in the death of a 27-year-old man. Jackson received a 24-year sentence while his mother received 22 years.

On Wednesday, September 23, 2020, a dispute over money escalated, resulting in Jackson and Campbell confronting Lasaaun Lawrence, the victim, in Far Rockaway. The duo approached Lawrence’s car, and Jackson shot multiple bullets at Lawrence. Campbell then shattered Lawrence’s car windshield with a metal pipe before they both fled the scene.

The pair were arrested on October 2, 2020. A loaded gun found in their car matched the one used in the shooting. Jackson, identified as the shooter in the video, was later apprehended in Florida.
