SILVER SPRING, MD – A Silver Spring man, Junior Salvador Alvarez Paz, has been apprehended and charged with manslaughter and distribution of a controlled substance following the death of an adult male who overdosed on Christmas Day last year.

According to law enforcement officials, Alvarez Paz is accused of selling a controlled substance to the victim on the morning of Sunday, December 25, 2022.

The Chief Medical Examiner conducted an autopsy, revealing that the cause of death was fentanyl and despropionyl fentanyl intoxication.

The Montgomery County Department of Police’s Drug Enforcement Section conducted a thorough investigation, which uncovered evidence connecting the 22-year-old suspect to the victim. Detectives determined that Alvarez Paz had communicated with the victim on Christmas morning and arranged a meeting, during which he allegedly sold drugs to the victim.

On Wednesday, May 3, 2023, lab results confirmed the presence of fentanyl in the drugs discovered in the victim’s possession.

Alvarez Paz was taken into custody on Tuesday, June 27, in Silver Spring. He was subsequently transported to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit, where he is currently held without bond.
