WALL TOWNSHIP, NJ – A local pulmonologist, Cornelius Gallagher, has been arrested and charged with multiple sexual offenses against a juvenile, according to Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago. Gallagher, a 62-year-old resident of Wall Township, is facing two counts of first-degree Aggravated Sexual Assault and two counts of second-degree Sexual Assault.

The investigation, led by the Wall Township Police Department, revealed that the alleged sexual abuse began nearly 20 years ago and persisted for over a decade, taking place at various locations within Wall Township.

Gallagher was arrested without incident and is currently held at the Monmouth County Correctional Institution (MCCI). A detention hearing and first appearance have been tentatively scheduled for Wednesday, July 12, before Monmouth County Superior Court Judge Paul X. Escandon.

It is important to note that the charges against Gallagher are unrelated to his interactions with any patients. Gallagher is a licensed pulmonologist with over 20 years of practice, associated with three hospitals in Monmouth County.

Authorities are urging anyone with information regarding Gallagher’s activities to contact Wall Township Police Department Detective Steve Swenson at 732-449-4500.
