Man Arrested for Attempted Burglary in Smyrna

SMYRNA, DE – Delaware State Police apprehended 36-year-old Joshua Chavez on Friday, after he was caught attempting to break into a residence on the 1200 block of Alabam Road, Smyrna.

Troopers responded to the scene at approximately 6:22 PM to find Chavez trying to gain entry into the garage.

Investigations reveal that Chavez was attempting to confront a 32-year-old man, who was not at home at the time. There were no reported injuries.

Chavez has since been taken into custody and charged with second-degree burglary, possession of burglar tools, and criminal mischief.

Following an arraignment at the Justice of the Peace Court 2, Chavez was committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on an $8,500 secured bond.
