Hate Crime Reported After Man Draws Swastikas at NYC Yoga Center

BROOKLYN, NY – On Tuesday, July 18, the New York City Police Department received a report of a hate crime at Yoga Hell, located at 2579 East 17th Street.

According to the report, an unidentified individual accessed the facility through an unlocked door and proceeded to vandalize the property.

The business is Jewish owned.

The suspect drew a swastika on the chalkboard, damaged religious items including a mezuzah, and removed prayer documents. Following the incident, the individual fled on foot on 17th Street towards Avenue Z.

There were no injuries reported as a result of the incident.

The Hate Crime Task Force of the NYPD is currently investigating the incident. Members of the public with information are encouraged to contact local police.
