Republican presidential hopeful Tim Scott will visit the southern border Friday, his campaign said in a statement to the Daily Caller News Foundation.

Scott, a Senator representing South Carolina, will travel to Yuma, Arizona, where he will host a roundtable discussion with local leaders, his campaign said. He is the third Republican presidential candidate to visit the southern border, following former United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis.

Democratic presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. visited the southern border, specifically Yuma, in June.

“If you don’t control your back door at your house, it’s not your house. If you don’t control your southern border, it might not be our country,” Scott said in a statement shared with the DCNF. “That’s why on my first day as Commander-in-Chief, the strongest nation on Earth will stop retreating from our own southern border.”

Scott will also reveal his plan to secure the U.S.-Mexico border during the trip, according to his campaign. In a recent conversation with Tucker Carlson, Scott touted legislation he would sign if he’s elected president that “freezes the assets of the Mexican cartels, targets Mexican cartels and hopefully eliminates the flow of fentanyl.”
