Suspect Sought in East Village LGBTQ Hate Crime Driven Assault

NEW YORK CITY, NY – An assault incident occurred on Wednesday, June 28, at approximately 8:00 PM, near East 13 Street and Broadway.

Two 23-year-old males were sitting on a bench when two unidentified individuals approached them.

A verbal dispute ensued, and the individuals made anti-LGBTQIA+ remarks at the victims before punching them in the head and shoving them in the chest.

The individuals then fled northbound on Broadway towards East 14 Street. The victims refused medical attention at the scene.

The New York City Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the whereabouts of the individuals involved.
