Do You Know Him? Newark Police Seeking to ID Assault Suspect

NEWARK, NJ – The public’s help is being sought in identifying a suspect connected to an armed aggravated assault that took place in Newark on Monday morning.

Around 6:35 a.m., a male victim exiting a residence on the 800 block of South 13th Street was confronted by a male suspect brandishing a firearm. The suspect ordered the victim back inside the dwelling, but a struggle ensued, leading the armed suspect to flee west on Madison Avenue.

The suspect is described as a Black male in his forties, standing 5’11” tall and weighing 180 pounds. He was seen wearing a black raincoat with bright orange lining, black cap, black ski mask, black hooded sweatshirt, black pants, black boots, and black gloves.

Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé has called on anyone with information about the suspect’s identity to contact the Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477). Tips are kept confidential and may be eligible for a reward.
