Two Charged for June Murder in Elizabeth

ELIZABETH, NJ – Walter Daniels, 33, of Newark, and Devon Gray, 31, of Elizabeth, were arrested on Friday, September 1, for a shooting that occurred on June 26.

Both men face charges of 1st-degree Murder, two counts of 1st-degree Attempted Murder, 2nd-degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, and 2nd-degree Possession of a Weapon for Unlawful Purpose.

The shooting resulted in the death of Guerley Edouard, 28, of Roselle.

At around 8:30 p.m. on the day of the incident, Elizabeth Police Officers responded to reports of multiple people shot on the 600 block of Salem Avenue.

Three gunshot victims were found inside a vehicle. Edouard was transported to Trinitas Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Two female victims, a 23-year-old and a 3-year-old, were treated at University Hospital and are in stable condition.
