Brick Memorial Keeps Unbeaten Streak, Defeats Matawan 34-24

BRICK, NJ – Brick Memorial High School maintained their undefeated season with a 34-24 win against Matawan High School in Shore Conference play.

Brick Memorial, now boasting a 4-0 overall and 3-0 conference record, faced a strong initial push from Matawan. Colin Palumbo of Matawan opened the scoring with a 2-yard run, but Kevin Andrews of Brick Memorial quickly answered back with a 23-yard run to lead 7-6 at the end of the first quarter.

Matawan, dropping to an 0-4 season and conference record, briefly regained the lead in the second quarter with a 10-yard pass from Am’ir Martinez to Cameron Cooper. However, Connor Dietz of Brick Memorial secured a 1-yard run to put his team ahead 13-12 at halftime.

In the third quarter, Dietz extended Brick Memorial’s lead with a 21-yard run, only for Matawan to close the gap with a 52-yard pass from Martinez to Welman Crooms, leaving the score at 21-18.

The fourth quarter was marked by back-and-forth scoring, with Dietz adding another 4-yard run and Palumbo responding with a 9-yard run for Matawan. However, Dietz closed the game with a 2-yard run, cementing the 34-24 victory for Brick Memorial.
