Queens Man Arrested for Murder After Two Stabbed, One Killed

QUEENS, NY – A 39-year-old man faces murder and weapon charges following a stabbing that left one dead and another injured.

Elliot Ortiz, a 45-year-old Queens resident, was found dead with a stab wound to the head late Sunday night at 136-11 41st Avenue. Responding to a 911 call for an assault in progress, police arrived at the scene around 2150 hours. Ortiz was rushed to New York-Presbyterian Queens Hospital but could not be saved.

Another man, Jason Schuler, 39, was found near the crime scene with stab wounds to the back. Schuler was also taken to New York-Presbyterian Queens Hospital and is in stable condition. On Monday at 0142 hours, Schuler was arrested and charged with murder and criminal possession of a weapon.

A knife was recovered from the location, and the investigation continues within the 109 Precinct.
