Attempted Murder Suspect on the Loose in Lewes

LEWES, DE – Delaware State Police are actively investigating an attempted murder that occurred in Lewes, Delaware. On October 8, 2023, at approximately 6:01 p.m., troopers were dispatched to a residence on the 31000 block of Maple Court following reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, authorities found a 29-year-old man from Millsboro suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The man received immediate medical attention from troopers and was subsequently transported to a local hospital, where he remains in critical condition.

The suspect, identified as 18-year-old Lewis M. Cameron of Hyattsville, Maryland, is still at large. Authorities have made attempts to locate Cameron but have been unsuccessful so far. The Homicide Unit is leading the ongoing investigation into the incident.

Delaware State Police are appealing to the community for assistance in locating Cameron. Detective M. Csapo is the primary point of contact for anyone with information related to the shooting or the suspect’s whereabouts. The public is urged to call Detective Csapo at 302-741-2729 with any pertinent details.

In addition to contacting Detective Csapo, information can also be sent through a private Facebook message to the Delaware State Police or by contacting Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1-800-847-3333. Authorities are encouraging anyone with information that could aid the investigation to come forward.
