by Jessica Woods

In a stroke of good fortune for one Brooklyn resident, the New York Lottery has confirmed that a top-prize ticket for the TAKE 5 EVENING drawing on October 12 was sold locally.

The lucky ticket, valued at $36,731, was purchased from 1709 Deli & Grill, located at 1709 Church Avenue in Brooklyn. This establishment is now in the spotlight for turning one of its customers into a prize winner, a first for this particular venue.

“TAKE 5 numbers are drawn from a field of one through 39,” according to a statement by the New York Lottery. The drawings are conducted twice daily, airing at 2:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. It remains to be seen who the fortunate ticket holder is, as winners can claim their prize up to a year after the drawing date.
