Traffic Alert: Major Delays Following Tanker Truck Crash on Route 1 in Linden

LINDEN, NJ – Expect significant delays due to an early morning crash involving a tanker truck at the intersection of Wood Ave and Route 1 in Linden. The accident occurred just after 6:00 a.m., and has led to closures on both roads.

According to initial reports from the Linden Police Department, a tanker truck traveling north on S. Wood Ave collided with a vehicle that was stopped at a red light at Route 1. The impact of the collision damaged both a traffic light and a utility pole. Additionally, a diesel spill occurred, though it has been reported as isolated.

The police department noted on their Facebook page, “The traffic light and a utility pole were damaged in the crash, and there is also a diesel spill, however, this appears to have been isolated. Thankfully, no injuries have been reported at this time.”

As a result of the accident, Route 1 is closed in both directions. S. Wood Ave is also shut down at the intersection. Traffic authorities expect significant delays to last for several hours as the cleanup and investigation are underway.
