Weather forecasts indicate that a Nor’Easter is forming and is expected to affect New York, New Jersey, and the surrounding region later this week. According to the National Weather Service, the storm is currently projected to hit overnight on Friday, Oct. 20, and last through Saturday, Oct. 21.
The lead-up to the storm is expected to be generally calm, with mostly sunny weather and highs near 63 to 66 degrees Fahrenheit. Southeast and south winds will range from 5 to 10 mph. However, the weather will start to turn on Thursday night, with a 30% chance of rain after 2 a.m. and mostly cloudy conditions. New precipitation amounts are expected to be less than a tenth of an inch.
“Friday will likely see rain, mainly after 8 a.m., with cloudy conditions and a high near 67,” the NWS predicts.
The chance of precipitation jumps to 70% on Friday, with new precipitation amounts ranging between a quarter and half of an inch. Conditions remain cloudy through Friday night, with a 70% chance of more rain and precipitation amounts varying between a tenth and a quarter of an inch.
The storm is expected to continue through early Saturday afternoon, featuring mostly cloudy conditions and a 60% chance of showers. Weather should gradually clear up by Sunday, offering mostly sunny conditions with highs around 60 and breezy winds.
