It Has Been Months Since New Jersey Democrats Held Last Education Meeting

TRENTON, NJ – Senate Republican Leader Anthony Bucco underscored the inaction of Senate Democrats concerning pressing education issues, marking 231 days since any substantial action has been taken. Bucco expressed his dismay over the lack of bipartisanship aimed at addressing the concerns of parents in New Jersey, especially regarding their role in their children’s education.

In a recent statement, Bucco stressed that parents are increasingly concerned about what they perceive as the Murphy administration’s intrusion into their children’s education. He pointed out the recent lawsuits initiated by the Attorney General’s Office against school districts as a clear indication of the administration’s unwarranted interference.

According to Bucco, such actions by the Murphy administration hinder parents from receiving crucial information regarding their children.

Bucco (R-25), emphatically stated, “Parents are rightfully concerned that the Murphy administration is interfering with their ability to have an active role in their children’s education.” He urged Democrats to return to Trenton and work alongside Republicans to craft bipartisan solutions that respect the rights of parents, teachers, and school districts in making the best decisions for the children.

The senator reiterated the importance of a collaborative approach between parents and teachers for the success of children, a sentiment he believes is not being prioritized by the Democratic majority in the Senate.

The last public hearing conducted by the Senate Education Committee was on March 2, 2023, a point Bucco highlighted to emphasize the prolonged inaction by Senate Democrats on education matters.
