Halloween Parade Wednesday in Cumberland

CUMBERLAND, MD — Several streets in south Cumberland will be closed for the Annual Halloween Parade on Wednesday, impacting both traffic and parking.

The parade, scheduled to start at 7:00 p.m., will require closures and detours to be in place before the event’s commencement. Virginia Avenue, East First Street from Virginia Avenue to Wempe Drive, South Street, Pennsylvania Avenue, Seymour Street, Grand Avenue, East Second Street, and East Third Street will be closed to general traffic starting at 5:30 p.m.

Only buses carrying students and parade vehicles will have access to these streets. No parking will be permitted on these roads after 4 p.m.

Race Street will remain open and will serve as an emergency route. At 6:30 p.m., Virginia Avenue, along with the Industrial Boulevard intersection, will also be closed to thru traffic.

Industrial Boulevard at Blackiston Avenue will be the last to close, shutting down at 7 p.m. Detours will be in place, allowing vehicles to use Messick Road to reach Interstate 68 and Blackiston Avenue to Oldtown Road. West First Street will be closed at Oak Street, but vehicles can use Oak Street to W. Third Street to access Industrial Boulevard.

Residents and visitors are advised to plan ahead and use alternative routes to avoid delays.
