Bedford County Woman Receives Life Sentence for 2018 Murder of Husband

by Ryan Dickinson

HARRISBURG, PA — Nancy Focht, 76, of Bedford County, was sentenced to life in prison without parole for the 2018 murder of her husband, David Focht, Sr. Attorney General Michelle Henry announced the sentence following a jury trial in September.

Focht was found guilty of first-degree murder and tampering with physical evidence. The conviction came after a thorough investigation revealed that she shot her husband following an argument at their property on September 11, 2018.

Focht initially called 9-1-1 and claimed that her husband had shot himself. This statement was later proven to be false, and she ultimately admitted to being the one who fired the shot during an interview with investigators months later.

During the trial, prosecutors presented evidence and testimony that contradicted Focht’s initial version of events. Attorney General Henry stated that, although nothing could bring back David Focht Sr., the sentence ensures that Nancy Focht is held fully accountable for his death.
