Queen Man Facing Homicide Charge for Death of 18-Year-Old Girl on Long Island Expressway

QUEENS, NY — On Monday, the New York City Police Department arrested 21-year-old Jason Jiang of Queens, NY, on multiple charges including manslaughter and criminally negligent homicide.

The arrest followed a collision that took place on December 1, 2022, leading to the death of an 18-year-old female and injuries to others.

NYPD was alerted to a vehicular accident on the Long Island Expressway. Jiang was driving a BMW at high speed when he lost control and struck a guardrail, resulting in the car flipping over.

Two passengers were in the vehicle; Katherine Lin, 18, was pronounced dead at NYC Health and Hospitals/Elmhurst, while another 18-year-old female was admitted to New York-Presbyterian Hospital-Queens in critical condition.

Jiang faces additional charges, including assault, reckless endangerment, reckless driving, and operating a vehicle without a license. The NYPD’s Highway Collision Investigation Squad continues to investigate the incident.
