Salisbury Woman Charged for DUI, Assault on Officer

MILLSBORO, DE — A Salisbury woman faces charges for DUI and felony resisting arrest after a hit-and-run incident led to a violent confrontation with law enforcement.

Delaware State Police responded to a call at 2:07 p.m. on Monday concerning a hit-and-run near Millsboro Highway and Laurel Road. The suspect’s vehicle was later found disabled near Careys Camp Road. Wanda Rodriguez Gonzalez, 26, was located by the Millsboro Police and state troopers away from the initial scene. Showing signs of impairment, she was placed in a patrol car where she began to act out aggressively.

While investigating, Gonzalez damaged the vehicle and assaulted an officer by biting. After further altercations that resulted in self-inflicted injuries and additional assaults on a paramedic and another trooper, Gonzalez was treated for her injuries. Charges are pending her arraignment.
