DURHAM, N.C. – The Durham Police Department responded to a reported disturbance with a weapon on the night of Thanksgiving, around 11 pm, near 1200 Broad Street.

Officers found an unoccupied white Dodge Charger that had crashed into the N.C. School of Science and Mathematics. Due to the holiday, no students or staff were present on campus.

Shortly thereafter, a gunshot victim approached a Durham fire crew at the scene, having sustained a wound to the arm.

The victim was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The police report minimal damage to the school structure and believe the shooting was not random.

The Durham Police Department continues to investigate the incident and asked anyone with information to contact CrimeStoppers.
