Fayetteville Police Involved in Fatal Thanksgiving Day Shooting

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – A traffic stop conducted by the Fayetteville Police Department on Thanksgiving Day, around 4:30 pm, resulted in the fatal shooting of a local man.

The incident occurred in the 2000 block of Murchison Road. Family members have identified the deceased as DeMarcus Brodie, who was nearly 50 years old and a resident of Fayetteville.

According to the police, a physical altercation ensued during the traffic stop, leading an officer to discharge their weapon.

Brodie was transported to a hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries. The Fayetteville Police Department stated that the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation is handling the investigation.

The incident led to the closure of Murchison Road near Fayetteville State University on N.C. 210, which has since reopened. No additional details have been provided at this time.
