New Jersey Man Beat Pitbull With Lead Pipe, Caught on Video

by Charlie Dwyer

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ – On Monday, the Atlantic City Police Department has charged 44-year-old Troy Hollis of Atlantic City with multiple counts of animal cruelty.

The charges stem from a tip received on last Thursday, through tip411, an anonymous messaging service used by the department.

The tip included a video showing a man, believed to be Hollis, abusing his Pitbull with a metal pipe. Officers Matthew Crosby and Dion Liu visited Hollis’s residence, where they found the dogs in good health.

However, a subsequent investigation by Humane Law Enforcement Officer Rebecca Seabrook led to Hollis’s arrest after finding a pipe matching the description in the video at his home.

Hollis faces charges of animal cruelty, failure to provide veterinary care, unlawful possession of a weapon, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose. He was released on a summons pending a future court date. The public is reminded that these charges are allegations, and the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
