LINDEN, NJ – A fire broke out in an apartment building at the corner of E. Elizabeth and N. Wood Avenues in Linden before 8:30 p.m. last night. Police and fire personnel, who arrived shortly after the report, saw flames emanating from a fourth-floor apartment at 10 N. Wood Ave. Immediate actions were taken to evacuate multiple apartments, resulting in no reported injuries.

The Linden Fire Department, aided by several Union County Mutual Aid departments, managed to contain the fire to a single apartment. The blaze was extinguished in just over an hour. However, smoke and water damage affected several other apartments. The exact number of impacted residents remains uncertain.

Currently, parts of Wood Ave and Elizabeth Ave are still closed. Authorities are investigating the cause of the fire and have announced that emergency responders will continue to work on the scene for a few more hours.
