Police Officers Rescue Driver from Fiery Crash in Virginia Beach

VIRGINIA BEACH, VA – Virginia Beach Police Department released body camera and in-car camera footage showing officers saving a driver from a burning vehicle. The incident occurred when a VBPD officer, conducting radar operations on Odm Neck Road, clocked a car speeding at 88 mph in a 35 mph zone.

Upon noticing the police, the driver attempted to evade by turning off the vehicle’s lights. Adhering to department policy, the officer discontinued the pursuit. However, the car subsequently crashed and caught fire.

Officers responded to the crash site, demonstrating bravery and commitment to public safety. Their actions, captured on video, highlight the everyday heroism of law enforcement officers. While the department values transparency, it ensures that sharing such incidents does not hinder ongoing investigations.
