The New York State Police Community Stabilization Unit (CSU) and the Violent Gang and Narcotics Enforcement Team have successfully concluded a three-month investigation into illegal firearms trafficking in Central New York.
The comprehensive investigation resulted in the search of five separate residences in Oswego County. The New York State Police Special Operations Response Team assisted in one of these searches. This coordinated effort led to the dismantling of a group involved in trafficking various illegal firearms, including ghost guns, 3D printed guns, assault weapons, and parts used to convert semi-automatic weapons into fully automatic firearms.
During the operation, ten illegal firearms were seized. These included ghost guns, 3D printed guns, a Mac 10 style submachine gun with a silencer, stolen and defaced firearms, and a 40-round extended magazine. Investigations revealed that some of these firearms originated from Georgia, Louisiana, and Pennsylvania.
State Police also uncovered evidence suggesting the manufacturing of 3D-printed weapon parts within the state, potentially aimed at creating non-traceable firearms.
The investigation led to the arrest of five individuals, who collectively face 32 felony charges and two misdemeanors.
