Alexandria Police Investigate School Swatting Insidents

by Jeff Jones

ALEXANDRIA, VA – On Wednesday, the Alexandria Police Department (APD) responded to false threats at two Alexandria City Public Schools.

The threats, received that afternoon, were later identified as incidents of “swatting.”

The first threat targeted Charles Barrett Elementary School, prompting a response from the APD, including K9 units and SWAT.

Students were evacuated to Cora Kelly School for safety. Further threats were directed at Cora Kelly School, but were quickly assessed as non-credible by the APD already present.

The APD, working with federal authorities, continues to investigate these incidents. The APD asks anyone with information to contact them, assuring anonymity for tips.
