12-Year-Old Charged in Series of Vehicle Thefts in D.C.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — A 12-year-old boy has been arrested and charged by police for his involvement in multiple vehicle thefts across Northwest Washington, D.C. The thefts, which began last year, included two mopeds and two cars, all of which have since been recovered.

The thefts took place over several months, starting with a moped stolen on Wednesday, June 14, 2023, from the 3100 block of 14th Street, Northwest. This was followed by the theft of a car on Tuesday, July 11, 2023, in the 2900 block of the same street.

Another moped was stolen two weeks later on July 25 from the 3100 block of 14th Street. The most recent incident occurred on Saturday, January 6, 2024, involving a car theft from the 3000 block of 14th Street.
