Protect Yourself from Home Improvement Scams During Nice Weather, Police Warn

by Local News Report

Teaneck, NJ – The Teaneck Police Department has issued a warning about home improvement scams, particularly involving roofing and driveway repairs. Scammers have been known to pressure victims either through calls or in-person visits, exaggerating repair needs, and demanding upfront payment. These fraudulent individuals often provide low estimates and discounts to lure victims in, but many fail to complete the work or provide subpar fixes such as spot repairs using sealants instead of necessary replacements.

To protect oneself from falling victim to these scams, it is advised to gather multiple repair estimates, collaborate with licensed contractors, and have a signed contract before any work commences.
