Philadelphia Police Officer Shoots Pit Bull Attacking Another Dog

by Local News Report

A Philadelphia police officer shot a pit bull while it attacked a pomeranian in the city’s West Oak Lane neighborhood last Wednesday. The incident took place on the 2100 block of Eastburn Avenue around 8 a.m. According to authorities, the officer arrived at the scene to witness the pit bull attacking the pomeranian on the sidewalk.

Despite attempts by the pit bull’s owner to separate the dogs, the officer had to intervene when the situation escalated. She first used her Taser but resorted to firing her gun, discharging a total of six rounds to subdue the aggressive pit bull.

Following the altercation, the pit bull turned its attention towards the officer, resulting in the officer firing three additional rounds that hit the pit bull in the rear leg.

The injured pit bull was then taken by its owner to the University of Pennsylvania Veterinary Hospital for medical attention. Unfortunately, the attacked pomeranian succumbed to injuries and was taken to Animal Care and Control Team Philadelphia.

The entire incident was recorded on the police officer’s body camera.
