Breakthrough in Shooting of Woman In D.C. Leads to Arrest

WASHINGTON, D.C. — A significant breakthrough has been made in a case stemming from a February shooting in Northeast D.C., with the arrest of 33-year-old Scotland Alston.

The incident, which took place on February 28, involved a woman who suffered gunshot wounds and required hospital treatment. The shooting occurred in the 2000 block of Benning Road.

The arrest was made on Sunday by members of the D.C. Metro Police Department’s Fifth District Crime Suppression Team, under a D.C. Superior Court warrant. Alston, a resident of Northeast, faces charges of Assault with Intent to Kill using a firearm.
