Elderly Man Killed in Somerset County Crash

SOMERVILLE, N.J. – Authorities are investigating a fatal pedestrian incident involving a motor vehicle after Andres Estaban Silva, 33, was arrested following the accident. Somerset County Prosecutor John P. McDonald reported that Flordemar E. Huamani-Sanchez, 72, was struck by a pickup truck driven by Silva on Friday evening.

The collision occurred near the intersection of Somerset Street and Veterans Memorial Drive in Somerville last Friday at 6:10 p.m. Silva initially fled but later returned to the scene and has since been charged with Leaving the Scene of an Accident involving Death. Silva is currently detained at the Somerset County Jail awaiting a hearing, with the investigation ongoing by local law enforcement.
