Fatal Motor Vehicle Accident Causes HAZMAT Situation in Chesapeake

Chesapeake, VA – A fatal motor vehicle accident on Wednesday morning resulted in a hazardous materials incident on Route 58. The collision involved a tractor-trailer and a sedan, leading to the death of the sedan’s adult male driver. The tractor-trailer, heading westbound, was attempting a U-turn when the eastbound sedan collided with it.

The Chesapeake Police Crash Reconstruction Team arrived to investigate the accident further.

The tractor-trailer driver remained at the crash site as authorities continue to look into the incident. Following the crash, a substantial amount of diesel fuel leaked onto the eastbound lanes, requiring HAZMAT teams to respond for cleanup.
