NYC Shop Worker Slashed With Razor Knife Trying to Stop Shoplifter

NEW YORK, NY—The NYPD is seeking the public’s help in identifying a suspect involved in a violent theft on Tuesday, May 21, at a store located at 610 6th Avenue.

The incident occurred at approximately 8:15 PM, where the suspect was involved in a confrontation that escalated to violence.

An unknown male entered the store and began stealing items. When a 24-year-old male employee intervened to retrieve the stolen goods, the suspect brandished a razor blade, slashing the employee’s left hand. After the assault, the assailant fled the scene on foot, heading northbound on 6th Avenue.

The injured employee was treated for a minor hand injury and transported to NYC Health and Hospitals/Bellevue in stable condition.

The suspect is described as a male with a light complexion, about 5 feet 9 inches tall, weighing approximately 230 pounds, with a large build. He was last observed wearing a dark gray Nike sweat jacket with a zipper, a black stocking cap, black sweatpants, and black sneakers.
