D.C. Carjacking Ends with Arrest of 13-Year-Old Suspect
Quick Arrest Made in Northwest D.C. Robbery Attempt WASHINGTON, DC - Following a Northwest robbery attempt, D.C. Metro Police Department’s Third District detectives have swiftly apprehended a suspect. The incident occurred today around 2:53 PM, in the 1200 block of W Street, Northwest. The suspect, identified as 20-year-old Lenare Leath, Jr. of Northwest D.C., allegedly brandished a knife and pushed the victim to the ground in an attempt to steal their property. After a struggle, the suspect fled empty-handed but was quickly caught by responding officers. The victim sustained minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital. Washington, D.C. — Authorities have arrested a juvenile suspect in connection with an unarmed carjacking in Northeast D.C.

On Tuesday, June 18, at 6:16 p.m., two suspects approached a victim in the 900 block of Rhode Island Avenue, Northeast. They demanded the victim exit his vehicle and took the vehicle keys before fleeing the scene in the stolen car.

Shortly after, officers located the stolen vehicle in the 1700 block of First Street, Northwest. One of the suspects was seen exiting the vehicle and was promptly arrested, while the second suspect escaped on foot.

Following an investigation, a 13-year-old male from Northwest D.C. was arrested and charged with Unarmed Carjacking.
