Deadly Crash Reported Outside Philadelphia VA Building

Philadelphia, PA—On Sunday, a fatal auto crash occurred at the intersection of Wissahickon Avenue and Clapier Street in the 39th District. The incident took place at approximately 10:57 PM.

Preliminary investigation indicates that the vehicle was traveling south on the 5000 block of Wissahickon Avenue when it turned short while attempting a left turn onto eastbound Clapier Street, striking a traffic light pole.

The driver was extricated by Philadelphia Fire Department Engine 59 and transported to Temple University Hospital by PFD Medics. The driver was pronounced dead at 11:45 PM. The passenger is listed in stable condition.

The investigation is ongoing.
