WASHINGTON, DC – A tragic crash resulting in two fatalities is under investigation after occurring on Southern Avenue this past Tuesday afternoon. During a high-speed pursuit involving United States Park Police and Anne Arundel County Police, a silver BMW sedan, implicated in multiple robberies, lost control. The vehicle, speeding southbound in the 4100 block, veered right, mounted the sidewalk, and violently struck a tree, splitting in half upon impact.

The severe crash led to the ejection and subsequent apprehension of 19-year-old Demetri Koger of Southeast, who was charged with Fugitive from Justice and treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Two other occupants were extracted from the wreck by D.C. Fire and EMS; both were pronounced dead at the scene, one of whom has been identified as 17-year-old Dashawn Harris of Southeast. Efforts to identify the second decedent are ongoing.

The incident, which drew attention on Wednesday when the involved BMW was linked to an armed robbery through its VIN, is still under investigation. Authorities are urging anyone with information about this fatal event to contact the police or text their tips.
