Juvenile Charged in Connection with Bayonne Death Investigation

BAYONNE, N.J. — The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit has arrested a male juvenile following the death of 17-year-old John Dominguez in Bayonne.

On Sunday, July 21, 2024, at approximately 2:30 p.m., the Bayonne Police Department and Bayonne Fire Department responded to a report of an unresponsive male inside an apartment at 124 West Third Street. The victim, identified as John Dominguez, was transported by Emergency Medical Services to Bayonne Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead shortly after 3 p.m.

The Regional Medical Examiner’s Office determined the cause of death to be a gunshot wound to the torso, ruling the manner of death as homicide.

Following this report, a 17-year-old male from Jersey City was arrested and charged with:

  • Manslaughter (N.J.S.A. 2C:11-4b(1))
  • Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose (N.J.S.A. 2C:39-4a(1))
  • Unlawful Possession of a Weapon (N.J.S.A. 2C:39-5b(1))

As this case involves a juvenile, additional information is confidential and cannot be released at this time, according to the prosecutor’s office.
