Victim in Brooklyn Moped Assault Dies at Hospital

BROOKLYN, NY – A 38-year-old man was pronounced dead on Friday, following an assault that occurred earlier in the week in Midtown North Precinct. The deceased, identified as Florian Oltmann of 277 North 7 Street, Brooklyn, was critically injured during an altercation on Tuesday.

The incident took place around 2:40 AM on Tuesday, in front of 627 9 Avenue, where an unidentified male on a moped collided with a 56-year-old man on the sidewalk.

Following a verbal altercation, the moped rider punched the 56-year-old, knocking him unconscious. When Oltmann attempted to intervene, he was also struck and rendered unconscious. He was subsequently transported to NYC Health and Hospitals/Bellevue in critical condition, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

The 56-year-old victim later died at the hospital.

The NYPD has released media depicting the suspect, who fled the scene on a black moped, and is urging anyone with information to come forward to assist with the ongoing investigation.
