WASHINGTON, D.C. — Authorities are investigating a fatal shooting in Northeast Washington that claimed the life of a man on Monday evening.

At approximately 7:56 p.m., officers responded to reports of a man falling off a moped in the 400 block of Michigan Avenue, Northeast. Upon arrival, officers discovered the man suffering from a gunshot wound and immediately provided medical assistance. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Preliminary investigations suggest the shooting did not occur near Catholic University’s campus. The victim, identified as 38-year-old Ruben Jesus Munoz-Romero of Takoma Park, Maryland, traveled to the location on a moped before succumbing to his injuries.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information about this incident is urged to contact the police at (202) 727-9099 or text a tip to 50411. A reward of up to $25,000 is available for information leading to an arrest and conviction in this case.
