Christopher Gregor Gets 20 Years in Prison for Treadmill Death of Son Corey

by Breaking Local News Report

TOMS RIVER, NJ – Christopher Gregor, a 32-year-old man from Monroe Township, has been sentenced to 20 years in New Jersey State Prison for the aggravated manslaughter of his six-year-old son, C.M. The sentencing took place on August 2, under the provisions of the No Early Release Act, ensuring Gregor serves at least 85 percent of his sentence before parole eligibility.

The conviction came on May 31, after a six-week jury trial overseen by the Honorable Guy P. Ryan, P.J.Cr.P., who found Gregor guilty of aggravated manslaughter and endangering the welfare of a child. The latter charge relates to incidents from March 20, 2021, in Barnegat Township, leading to a consecutive five-year sentence.

The case stems from an April 2, 2021, investigation by Stafford Township Police into the death of C.M. at Southern Ocean Medical Center, where he was declared dead from injuries inflicted by blunt force trauma.

The Ocean County Medical Examiner confirmed the cause of death following a post-mortem examination on April 3, 2021.

Further investigations by the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office and local police linked the fatal injuries to abuse by Gregor while the child was under his custody. Gregor, who had been initially released under New Jersey’s Bail Reform, was taken into custody on March 9, 2022, and has been held in Ocean County Jail pending trial and sentencing.
