Newark police seek public assistance in identifying robbery suspects’ vehicle

NEWARK, NJ – Newark Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé has requested the public’s help in locating a vehicle connected to a robbery on Monday.

At approximately 10:15 p.m., police responded to a robbery call on the 800 block of South 16th Street. A victim exiting her vehicle was approached by a dark-colored, four-door Honda HR-V sedan. A male passenger exited the car, brandishing a handgun, and demanded the victim’s belongings, including her car keys. The suspect vehicle fled northbound on South 16th Street towards Avon Avenue after the robbery.

Detectives describe the suspect with the weapon as a light-skinned African-American male, approximately 5’7” tall with a medium build. He was wearing all-black clothing and a ski mask. The vehicle had a sunroof and dull metallic rims.
