Queens, NY- Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz has announced the indictment of five individuals on charges including conspiracy, the criminal sale of a controlled substance, and gun sale charges.

This follows an 18-month undercover operation resulting in the seizure of more than 750 Percocet and ecstasy pills, many laced with fentanyl or methamphetamine, and a significant amount of cocaine. The illegal narcotics, reportedly valued at approximately $15,000, were allegedly sold by the defendants at the Astoria Houses complex. Among the defendants is a New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) employee who worked at the Latimer Gardens Housing Complex.

Queens District Attorney Katz highlighted the seriousness of the actions of the defendants, asserting they are accused of selling dangerous drugs and a firearm in a public housing complex. The partnership and efforts of the NYPD, Department of Investigation, and the DA’s Major Economic Crimes Bureau were acknowledged for their collaborative work in bringing the case forward. DOI Commissioner Jocelyn E. Strauber emphasized the threat posed by the defendants’ alleged activities at the Astoria Houses and expressed gratitude for law enforcement’s commitment.
