NYPD seeks suspect in attempted cellphone robbery, assault at Brooklyn subway station

NEW YORK — Police are searching for an individual wanted in connection with an attempted robbery and assault on a subway platform in Brooklyn early Wednesday morning.

The incident took place on Nov. 6 around 1:30 a.m. on the southbound “N” train platform at the 4th Avenue and 9th Street station in the 78th Precinct. According to police, a 40-year-old man was waiting for a train when he was approached by an unidentified individual who attempted to forcibly take his cellphone.

During the attempted robbery, the suspect punched the victim multiple times before fleeing the scene on foot in an unknown direction, police said. The victim sustained minor injuries and was transported by EMS to NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital, where he was reported to be in stable condition.

The NYPD has released an image of the suspect as part of their effort to locate and identify him.

Anyone with information regarding the suspect’s identity or whereabouts is encouraged to contact the NYPD. The investigation is ongoing.
